Question 4
The target audience for our film is roughly teenagers to
young adults, we have a strong link with students, who are in that age range, with an interest in horror / zombie films. On our film we have a
certificate of 15, because it includes zombies, violence, weapons and strong
language, so it would not be suitable for anyone under the age of 15. Our film
is aimed at both male and female, even though our film has mostly male actors, although
we do have a small number female actors in our film. We don’t expect a certain
amount of one of the genres. Our film is also aimed at all races as there is no
discrimination in our film what so ever. Our film is likely to attract the more
middle working class as the higher class is more likely to be watching more
mainstream films and ours is independent, so it would be more unusual to get a
large number of higher class people watching our film. I don’t expect our film
to only have a niche audience as other films like ours have attracted a large
audience so there should be a large demand for our film.
Before we began filming, we made a questionnaire, in order to find any mistakes made and to make it more suitable for our target audience, with there responses. It included questions like: What do you like / dislike?, What genre do you think this film is?, would you and where would you watch this film?, Is there any improvements you would make, after reading our story-line?.
From looking at the results of the questionnaire it showed that only 5 out of 10 got the genre correct, which told us that we need some obvious, conventional music, with a creepy feeling to it. It showed that many people wouldn't change the story-line and the ones that did would only make a few more things happen in the short space of time. The most interesting thing was the wide range of different ways they would watch the film, As 6 out of 10 would watch it at the cinema, 2 out of 10 would watch it on Netflix and 2 out of 10 would wait for it to come on TV.
